24 Dances For The Electric Piano – Cory Arcangel

Tuesday 3 February 2015 at 8 pm in Hafnarhúsid at Reykjavík Art Museum.

Icelandic pianist Tinna Thorsteinsdóttir will perform Cory Arcangel’s 24 Dances For The Electric Piano as part of Arcangel’s solo exhibition, All The Small Things, at the Reykjavik Art Museum. 24 Dances For The Electric Piano is a suite of 24 compositions written for the iconic Korg M1 synthesizer, a late ’80s digital keyboard made famous by its piano sound, which can be heard on countless dance music tracks. Each of the pieces is a short repetitive “riff” that is inspired by house and trance piano breakdowns that were prevalent in ’80s and ’90s house and trance music.
The performance is part of the 24 Dances For The Electric Piano concert tour that started at ICA London last fall, with further venues at Berliner Philharmonie, Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and at MUMOK in Vienna.
Admission is free with exhibition ticket. Please note that space is limited and that the performance cannot be joined after 8 pm.
