Toy Piano Story at Dark Music Days Festival

TOY PIANO STORY / Dark Music Days festival 2020 / Feb 1 / 3pm / Kaldalón, Harpa Music Hall

Tinna goes through the Toy Piano history. Works on show are both by Icelandic composers as well as international ones and will be scrutinzed in a historic context in a playful manner! The audience will also come across real time notation scores and electronics. Special guest of Tinna´s is Frank Aarnink, percussionist. Works by Julia Wolfe, John Cage, a Bach brother, Gunnar Karel Másson, Gudmundur Steinn Gunnarsson, Thórunn Gréta Sigurdardóttir, Ingibjörg Fridriksdóttir, Atli Heimir Sveinsson, Hallvardur Ásgeirsson and Jónas Tómasson.

About Tinna Þorsteinsdóttir
Tinna has taken part and initiated several music programs for children with her friend Gudrún Hrund, violist, a.o. with the Reykjavík Chamber Orchestra in 2013 at the Children’s Culture Festival. In 2018 they gave a family concert in Salurinn Music Hall in Kópavogur, where a participatory work was premiered and pieces by kids from the audience group. They gave a workshop with students in Vesturbæjarskóli, which resulted in premieres in a concert at Dark Music Days 2019. Tinna has introduced new music for students at TUF, a music festival for young musicians and at Children´s Mengi concert. She is a professional concert pianist and really loves new music and has premiered tons of piano works.

This concert is part of the special children´s program at Dark Music Days. Admission is free.
Kaldalón is positioned on the 1st floor of Harpa, and has weelchair access in the back rows.
